DANCE FLOOR DIPLOMACY BREATH’S NEW “INDIE LIFE” INTO 40 POP SONGS OF THE PAST DECADE AND A HALF

It’s always interesting to hear where musician’s will take it next. Did I say musician’s? I mean Hipsters. Case in point, Dancefloor Diplomacy’s latest viral sensation “We Are Ready”. This collage of pop music, spanning a decade and a half, pulls from everybody, Dr. Dre,The White Stripes,Britney Spears,Massive Attack and the list goes on and on. This brilliantly weaved tapestry of irony, fakes us into liking some songs that most of us hated or never openly admitted we liked. That’s the hipsters role. To take the mistakes of our past and present them to us, as if to say “Oh you humans….”, but I’m not one to judge. I’m just making an observation. I will admit that along with the schlock, they do draw upon some heavy hitters like Otis Redding,Dj Shadow,Flying Lotus and Tv On The Radio, just to name a few. They obviously have taste. Now let’s talk about the Editing,Cinematography and Direction. Beautiful and stunning, easily a Vimeo staff pick of the week. This piece was directed by Theo Anthony. The cinematography was done by Gregory Wickstrom. Two great taste that go great together. I felt like I was watching a visual mix tape of someone’s “eloquently written” suicide note. Morbid I know, but the girl floating in the water just kept pulling me in. Enjoy!
