Films like these make me miss Brooklyn. This gritty coming of age story surrounds a young African American kid in Brooklyn, who tries to cope with the world after loosing his best friend and riding partner Jerry. This is one amazing piece of film. Quiet, but the horse and the image and symbolism behind it is breathtaking. The characters in this film are honest and not forced. There is an unbelievable level of innocence so hard to capture on film. My hat goes off to the director Christina Choe for allowing these actors to breath, she got some great moments from them. As an actor this is very important and so hard to achieve especially from young actors. I hope this short goes on to win more and more awards! Amazing!! Oh and I can’t be sure, but I think she used Mogwai on the soundtrack, but don’t quote me.
