Probably the one film that negated all the pressure not to do drugs and pushed me beyond the threshold. The Beatles Yellow Submarine may not be a super triumph in animation by todays standards, but you put all the great music to the triply landscapes in this film and you have an instant classic that will stand the test of time. Well for all you newbies who didn’t have parents cool enough to turn you on to this band, one the most psychedelic films of the 20th century is coming back restored and in 5.1 Dolby sound. watch as John, Paul,Ringo and George do battle against the music hating Blue Meanies. Little factoid about this movie…none of the voices of The Beatles were actually the Beatles, but instead character actors, but the real Beatles are cited as being in the quote unquote cast and not the voice actors. Can’t tell you how bummed I was when I learned this news. The 1969 film is directed by George Dunning and written by Lee Minoff, Al Brodax and Jack Mendelsohn.
