Dark Horse Comic’s R.I.P.D get’s the Hollywood Treatment

Dark Horse Entertainment has just announced that R.I.P.D written by Jeremy Barlow and illustrated by Tony Parkeror will be coming out in the summer of 2013. The film adapted from the uber-successful Dark Horse comic book will star Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges and the comeback king himself Kevin Bacon and Robert Schwentke (Red, Flightplan) directing. It is being written by Phil Hay (Clash Of The Titans), Peter M. Lenkov (Hawaii Five-O) and Matt Manfredi (Clash Of The Titans). The story is a mash up of sorts, kind of like how Aliens Vs. Cowboys and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter was.

Roy Pulsipher and Nick Walker are dead, but that doesn’t mean their time in law enforcement is over. Both Roy and Nick are officers in the Rest in Peace Department, sworn to serve the Almighty and protect the living from evil’s foul corruption. Their current case has them chasing a ghostly fanatic determined to undo all of creation—a threat with very personal connections to Roy’s past, stretching back a hundred years into a weird, Wild West and Roy’s first day on the job. It’s a twisted history that Nick is only starting to uncover, and one that could have him reconsidering ever joining the R.I.P.D.!

Aub Driver at Dark Horse informs us that R.I.P.D will be released the week following Comic Con 2013, so with that in mind there wont be soul whose not hot and ready for some supernatural action. Sounds a bit like Hellboy/Constantine set in the wild west which is reason enough for me to lay down my duckets for this adventure! Below you’ll find 6 pages from issue #1 of R.I.P.D for your viewing pleasure.
