John Kricfalusi and IDW publishing set to release Spumco comicbooks next year and now all is right with the world

I’m of the opinion that if I can’t have a John K animation, I’ll settle for a comicbook and so will you, if you know what’s good for ya. IDW publishing recently announced that they are joining with Ren and Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi to put out a series of comicbooks through John’s animation company Spumco. The books are stories that John and his other minions Jim Smith, Vincent Waller and Rich Pursel had penciled back in the 90’s when Ren and Stimpy was at it’s height. For whatever reason those works of genius never saw the light of day, until now.

This is what John K had to say about the books:

“I am thrilled that Craig Yoe and Yoe Books, the imprint of IDW, are compiling the rare Spumco comics we drew in the 1990s into hardbound volumes,” said Kricfalusi. “Now collectors and fans can get to read some of the finest stories and art from the crew that made Ren and Stimpy. Jim Smith, Vincent Waller, Rich Pursel in top form – and also great inking by then young sprout Shane Glines. And many more funny artists!”

Long out of print and rendered hideously expensive, the insanity of these comics by the creators of Ren & Stimpy and Sody Pop are being collected into a beautiful, deluxe, full color hardback for the first time! That’s right, folks, 160 pages of metaphorically unglued, off-the-wall, kinda-filthy-but-that’s-ok-by-us comics goodness featuring the adventures of beloved characters like George Liquor and Jimmy! This collection even has a never-before-published story! This will be the first time Jimmy the Drooling Numbskull in nutty the Friendly Dump has ever been printed!

The John K Spumco comicbook will be in stores on Feb 27, 2013, but you can always reserve your copy HERE.
