Fe Fi Fo Fum, Jack the Giant Slayer looks to be alot of fun

Bryan Singer, director of the X-Men films and Usual Suspects has finally announced his release date for Jack the Giant Slayer after much delay, accompanied with a more developed trailer for the film.  This time we get to see the giants!  Featuring Ewan McGregor, Ian McShane, Stanley Tucci, and Nicholas Hoult, this has the propensity of something I definitely would like to see on the big screen.  To be released March 2013.  Watch the trailer after the jump.

I think I was sold after seeing Ewan McGregor’s character rolled up as one of the pigs in the blankets.

Writers of the film include Darren Lemke(Lost, Shrek:Forever After), Christopher McQuarrie(Jack Reacher, The Way of the Gun), Dan Studney(Reefer Madness:The Musical), and David Dobkin(Wedding Crashers, The Change-Up).  Hopefully, these long-time collaborators have put their hearts into this one and the delayed release date has more purpose than avoiding the heavy hitting films it was potentially slated against.  On a side note, I had no intention of going to see Jack Reacher until I found out that it was written by the guy who wrote “The Way of the Gun“.  Great film released in 2000, check it out.

Surprise!  This film is yet another Hollywood remake!  Although, the original Jack the Giant Killer dates back to 1962 and filmed in the same classic style as the Sinbad films.  I’m really hoping the 2013 version includes the loveable, imp in the bottle.

Turner Classic Movies has a bunch of great trailers and info if you enjoy the old school stuff.  Pay them a visit.
