Watch the first six minutes of Maniac starring Elijah Wood

elijah-wood-maniac-sliceYou know how everyone’s always telling you to “wait for it” or “it’ll get better…trust me”? Well this six minute clip for the new psycho horror filmManiac” starring Elijah Wood and directed by Franck Khalfoun (High Tension) actually does. You all know Elijah’s no stranger to crazy, he played a stupid buck cray serial killer in Sin City, well now he’s back in Maniac and with the director of High Tension behind the camera. If you haven’t seen High Tension it’s pretty psycho-sick. It still surprises me to this day, how the French, with their love for wine and shit, just keep churning out these insane horror films, but they do. The beginning of this clip starts off a little like the Ryan Gosling’s flick Drive, it even has a bit of the eighties synth sound that adds to an already deeply disturbing situation, hopefully the similarities stop there. The clip has one hell of an epic ending and definitely well worth the wait. Expect to see some bloody kills and some truly disturbing shenanigans in this one. Maniac releases in 2013, more than likely straight to video, but hey…some of the best films ever made went straight to video…I think?

Synopsis: Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.
