Trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire gives us a lot of the same

I guess this movie needed to be made? I’ve never wanted to yawn so bad during a trailer and I’m not even tired. Although pretty, I have a tough time thinking that history looked anything like this or like the first movie for that fact. Although loosely based on the revolution that spawned after the Battle of Thermopylae (the inspiration for 300), Frank Miller made good on his promise to bring us a sequel. I had no idea history had sequels, but apparently it does. Perhaps Warner Brother’s should donate the money they make from this film to the people of Greece, who are drowning in debt unprecedented. Enjoy this long winded eye candy. I’m not bitter at all.

300:Rise of an Empire stars Sullivan Stapleton, Lena Headey,Rodrigo Santoro,Eva Green and Andrew Tiernan and releases in theaters March 7, 2014.

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.

300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
