Hot Toys opens flagship store, Toy Sapiens, in Tokyo and prepares to blow collectors minds

Admittedly, I have not collected toys or action figures in many a year.  Not because I didn’t have appreciation for the hobby, but, due to the desire to spend my wages on other pursuits.  This habit of denying myself these geeked treasures may have to change now that I have discovered Hot Toys.  After spending some time on their website and Facebook page into wee hours last night, marvelling at the detail of design, I picked out a wall to start showcasing.  Busting out my credit card before

investigating into cost, I coughed and hiccupped at the prices of these pieces, most of us will.  Damn they’re pretty though.  What am I gonna do?  I could use some tune-up work on my van, yet, that Avengers diorama would look great in my office.

Back when I was ten, a pal and I spent a summer building our own G.I. Joe headquarters complete with training rooms and toilets out of cardboard, Lego’s, Lincoln Logs, and magic markers.  I think I can go bigger, now.

Look at the detail on this Bruce Lee.  He comes in a couple of variations with exchangeable fists and kung-fu stylings.  It’s like having your very own house of wax.

Have a thing for Anne Hathaway’s portrayal of Cat Woman?  Yes, you can prop her up on the Bat Cycle if you so choose.

Established in 2000, Hot Toys has purchased official merchandising rights for The Avengers, Iron Man, Batman, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Superman, Terminator Salvation, Pirates of the Caribbean, Aliens & Predator, Predators series, etc. as well as famous world-class celebrities such as martial artist Bruce Lee and King of Pop Michael Jackson.  Due to the realism I can only imagine this list blowing up.  The patents they have around their product sounds like the future of an android technology, Parallel Eyeball Rolling Systems (PERS) and Interchangeable Faces Technique (IFT).

Here is are some photos to give you an idea of the scale of these figures.

There are too many photos from Hot Toys and Toy Sapiens Facebook page that I would like to include here.  I will leave it up to you to peruse through the rest.  Ok, one more for the Star Wars kids.

If those links I fed you weren’t enough, SideShow Collectibles will probably give you another hour to kill with your fantasies at least.  In fact, since they deal with other organizations besides Hot Toys, their selection is much more vast.  You may notice I didn’t mention any prices.  I did this purposely.  Why ruin a good time?
