Dark Horse Comics releases “The Art of BIOSHOCK:INFINITE”

I’ve no doubt that Bioshock contains some amazing gameplay, but first person shooters always make me nauseous, which is why I’ve never played it and too bad because the concept art in the Bioshock games are outstanding! Since arriving on the scene back in 2007, Bioshock has become a cult favorite among gamers. True fans of the game have created fan films and even petitioned BIOSHOCK writer Ken Levine, for a comic book or graphic novel, which he humbly shot down by stating…

Taken from an interview with Kotaku’s Evan Narcisse

Kotaku: Tons of games coming out have comics attached to them. Is there ever going to be a BioShock comic?

Levine: Actually, there’s been a lot of conversations about it, and we’ve had some really good productive conversations. The biggest problem is if there’s going to be BioShock comics, I need to make sure that I’m either writing or on top of the stories, and right now I have so limited time….

I’ve learned through past experience that you really need to be on top of this stuff. It’s one thing to do action figures or something because you can review that fairly quickly and make sure they’re right on the money. Comics, you gotta be deeply involved.

You gotta respect that!

Although plans for a Bioshock comic book may be up in the air, Dark Horse Comics is bringing you the next best thing with actual concept art from the latest Bioshock installment Infinite. This book is stunning with page after page of drawings from the actual Bioshock artisan’s like Jason Bennett, Chris Chaproniere, Chelsea Douglas, Scott Duquette, Claire Hummel, Jorge Lacera, Ben Lo, Shawn Robertson, Scott Sinclair, Mauricio Tejerina, Robb Waters, Tyler West, and Laura Zimmerman. Just browsing through these wonderful images, it’s boggles the mind why this hasn’t been turned into a film yet? This is the only game, and I haven’t even played it yet, that has been able to really create visceral dreamscapes. The character’s are all larger than life and dangerous. If you’re a fan of the game you are seriously going to enjoy this book, which releases on March 27, 2013, but you can pre-order your copy HERE.
