So if you don’t already know, Jay-Z and Baz Luhrman are working together on the soundtrack for the remake of F.Scott Fitzgerald‘s beloved classic The Great Gatsby. You know Baz is good at mash-up’s from his previous films and this ones no exception, however, judging by this trailer, he doesn’t seem to be using quirky spins on modern songs, in fact the tracks appear to be all original. Maybe he’s saving the the jazz version of “Call Me Maybe” for later, but for now, it sounds interesting. For a moment there I thought it was going to be a hip hop soundtrack, but I may be wrong…I hope I am. This trailer features the vocal styling’s of Beyonce (of course), Andre 3000, Lana Del Rey, and Florence + The Machine. All I’m hoping for is that Adele is on this soundtrack somewhere…it just makes sense.
Visually, it’s an amazing trailer and it just wouldn’t be a Baz Luhrman production if the film wasn’t going to be released in 3D….yeah you heard me right, The Great Gatsby in 3D directed by Baz Luhrman! Should be quite a spectacle, one might even say it’ll be Spectacular! Spectacular! I should get drunk for this one.
The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan,Tobey Maguire, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher, Jason Clarke, and Adelaide Clemens. The film releases in theaters everywhere in 3D May 10, 2013.
